XMarket, a 100% Vegan Marketplace, Now Open in Hillcrest

The fully vegan grocery market and cafe features hundreds of high-quality, plant-based pantry items, plus fresh deli items and frozen foods. Read on to hear more about what’s on offer.

XMarket, a 100% vegan plant-based marketplace, has opened in the heart of Hillcrest right off of University Ave. Customers can stop in and shop for vegan convenience foods, pick up a potted plant, or meet up with a friend for a plant-based latte and sandwich from the on-site cafe.

XMarket products range from beauty, personal care, pets and baby to shelf-stable items, indoor plants, and a variety of refrigerated and frozen foods. Several local plant-based brands are on offer including Tracy’s Real Foods, Cashew Later Sauce, and Kula Ice Cream. Customers can also order XMarket’s vegan goods online through its website and receive same-day delivery through Uber Eats.

XMarket Cafe Highlights

The cafe inside XMarket serves plant-based coffee drinks, pastries, plus freshly made or grab-n-go sandwiches. Sandwich combo highlights include:

• Caprese: Miyoko’s mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, arugula, pesto on focaccia.
• The ELT: Eggplant, romaine, heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers plus za’atar, pepperoncini relish, black pepper tahini on ciabatta.
• “Meat Lovers”: smoked tomato ham, salame, mozzarella, provolone, relish, tomatoes, baby gem lettuce and veganaise on a baguette.

Customers can enjoy their cafe items inside by XMarket’s luscious indoor plant nursery or at a welcoming bistro table outside alongside Hillcrest’s Fifth Avenue.

San Diego’s XMarket is considered its U.S. flagship location and will be a prototype for future locations across the country. To that end, the Hillcrest location is already adding more shelves, more refrigerators and additional products to even better serve its customers.
