Inside Ritual Wellness Center's Debut in Rancho Santa Fe

A new Ayurvedic and somatic sanctuary opens its doors to women in midlife.

There is a moment many women hit in their late thirties and forties when the body begins sending quiet, undeniable signals that the old ways of pushing through no longer work. When Michelle Srih was 35, those signals arrived as a sudden clinical diagnosis of early-onset perimenopause. The only solution offered by conventional medicine at the time was a prescription for birth control pills.

“I was told that was the only path,” Srih recalls. “As a medical professional and therapist, I knew in my gut that something deeper was asking for attention. I didn't want to simply mask what my body was trying to communicate.”

That turning point set Srih on an exploratory path through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and, ultimately, Ayurveda, India’s 5,000-year-old system of natural healing and longevity. For Srih, whose cultural heritage is Indian, discovering the rhythm of Ayurvedic medicine was both an evidence-based clinical revelation and a profound homecoming.

Through targeted seasonal nourishment, warm-oil therapies, daily biological rhythms, and nervous system downshifting, Srih resolved her hormonal imbalances naturally without pharmaceuticals or synthetic hormones. Now, she is bringing that lived wisdom and clinical rigor into practice with the opening of Ritual Wellness Center, a boutique, body-first sanctuary located in the heart of Cielo Village in Rancho Santa Fe.

Srih began her wellness career as a registered counselor, supporting clients moving through severe anxiety, depression, and complex trauma. Yet over time, she noticed a persistent missing link in the traditional therapeutic model.

“Even in the best cognitive therapy, there comes a point where talking isn't enough,” Srih explains. “Trauma, chronic stress, and exhaustion don’t live in your intellect—they live in your nervous system and your tissues. Healing requires coming back into the body.”

That realization drove Srih to expand her practice into somatic experiencing, clinical psychedelic-assisted therapy in Canada, trauma-informed breathwork (pranayama), and therapeutic yoga. Ritual Wellness Center is the physical culmination of that multi-disciplinary evolution as a place where psychology, somatics, and ancient lifestyle medicine meet without dogmatic jargon.

“Ayurveda at its core is remarkably simple,” says Srih. “It’s about re-aligning your daily rhythms with your food, your sleep, the seasons, and nature. We’re not asking anyone to learn Sanskrit or adopt a foreign philosophy. We’re simply translating timeless physiological truths for a modern woman living in Southern California in 2026.”

Unlike transactional day spas or sterile clinical offices, Ritual was designed as a warm, restorative boutique sanctuary tucked against the rolling hills of Rancho Santa Fe. The center's layout balances solitary restoration with collective community. For instance, an eight-person infrared sauna with integrated red light therapy allows small groups to step directly from group breathwork into restorative cellular heat.

“Our nervous systems are so conditioned to be ‘on’ that women often feel guilty simply resting,” Srih notes. “At Ritual, rest isn’t a luxury or an afterthought on your to-do list. It is the primary clinical intervention.”

The heart of the center's philosophy revolves around the Ayurvedic concept of pacifying Vata, the air and ether element that naturally governs midlife transitions. When ungrounded, excess Vata manifests as insomnia, racing thoughts, joint stiffness, dry skin, and digestive volatility. Ritual counters this state through deeply soothing sensory anchors: warm herbal oils, grounding foods, and slow, rhythmic care.

Ritual departs from traditional wellness models through its collaborative practitioner structure. Rather than booking disconnected one-off appointments, clients are held by an integrated clinical circle.

As the founder and integrative guide, Srih often serves as a woman’s initial touchpoint by conducting 1:1 consults to listen to her unique symptom landscape before mapping a bespoke path forward.

The multidisciplinary team rounding out the sanctuary includes:

  • Ayurvedic Nutritionists: Guiding personalized nutritional lifestyle consultations, dosha-balancing seasonal meals, and restorative digestive care.
  • Veteran Bodyworkers: Bringing more than two decades of advanced hands-on somatic bodywork to relieve deep musculoskeletal holding patterns.
  • Yoga Therapists: Leading 1:1 and small-group clinical yoga therapy, focusing on mindful emotional processing, somatic breath regulation, and nervous system downshifting rather than physical performance.

Behind the scenes, the team meets regularly to confer on client progress. “If a woman comes in navigating grief, a divorce, postpartum changes, or perimenopausal burnout, we don't treat her in silos,” says Srih. “We look at her sleep, her food, her emotional world, and her nervous system together. We create a container around her so she doesn’t have to figure it out alone.”

To support women through genuine life shifts, Ritual offers flexible drop-in sessions alongside structured two-week and four-week immersive containers, as well as ongoing monthly wellness memberships.

Grand Opening – Thursday, November 12

To celebrate its arrival, Ritual Wellness Center is hosting an evening open house + community gathering on Thursday, November 12, from 4:00-7:00pm.

The evening will feature an immersive 45-minute sound bath and guided somatic downshift facilitated by Shannon French of Zen Diego Wellness, accompanied by warm, seasonal Ayurvedic culinary pairings prepared by Ritual Wellness Center’s Chef Tara Middleton.

Local holistic practitioners, therapists, and facilitators are also invited to tour the sanctuary’s treatment spaces to explore independent room rentals and collaborative workshop partnerships.

“In modern society, women in midlife are so often expected to disappear or quietly bear the weight of everything,” says Srih. “Ritual is here to say the opposite. This chapter is your homecoming. You deserve a modern village that holds you with warmth, expertise, and radical care.”
