Nearly a year after the City of San Diego issued an ordinance prohibiting outdoor yoga classes on public beaches, the local wellness community continues to adapt and thrive. While the new regulations limit where beach yoga in San Diego classes can be held, instructors and students have found ways to keep outdoor yoga alive and well in San Diego. North County yogis can still practice beachside at a few select locations in Carlsbad, Encinitas and Oceanside. Here's where you can flow outdoors in San Diego:
North County

Mondays - Saturdays – Tyson Street Park, Oceanside
Teresa of Pier View Yoga hosts daily drop-in beachside yoga flows in Oceanside (except Sundays). If you love incorporating the ocean, sand and sun into your flow, this class is for you.
Wednesdays – Carlsbad State Beach, Carlsbad
Breathe in the salty ocean air and unwind midweek with a lunchtime slow flow and meditation. This all-levels class is the perfect way to de-stress and reset, with the calming rhythm of the waves as your soundtrack.
Wednesdays + Saturdays – San Diego Botanic Garden, Encinitas
Find your flow in the heart of nature with yoga at the San Diego Botanic Garden. With two unique offerings, Open Air Yoga in the lush outdoor gardens on Saturdays and Conservatory Flow Yoga inside the stunning glass-domed conservatory on Wednesdays, these classes provide a deeply immersive experience surrounded by vibrant greenery and the soothing sounds of nature.
Fridays – Coastal Roots Farm, Encinitas
Framed by Jewish wisdom, this gentle yoga and meditation class is all about celebrating strength, mindfulness, and community, surrounded by a peaceful farm setting.
Fridays + Sundays – Moonlight State Beach, Encinitas
This all-levels yoga session with Yoga in Beautiful Places at Moonlight State Beach offers a chance to move, stretch, and center yourself in a breathtaking coastal setting. Whether you’re looking to energize your body for the day ahead or wind down with a sunset practice, this class provides a mindful escape.
Select Fridays + Sundays – Mountain Meadow Preserve, Escondido
Gather for a free outdoor yoga session followed by a gorgeous guided hike around Mountain Meadow Preserve. This series is offered by The Escondido Creek Conservatory on the 2nd Friday and 3rd Saturday of each month in 2025.
Saturdays + Sundays – Tamarack Beach, Carlsbad
Rise and shine with an invigorating fitness flow with Yoga Your Way at Tamarack Beach. Select from beachside pilates, barre or yoga, and workout to the sound of the ocean with the sandy beach serving as an extra challenge boost.
Multiple Days – Frazee State Beach, Carlsbad
Carlsbad Village Athletic Club hosts one hour (all-levels) vinyasa yoga classes that integrate physical poses with meditation and breathing techniques. Choose from a Saturday or Sunday weekend flow or join in a special sunset flow on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Varies – The Flower Fields, Carlsbad (March–May)
For a truly magical experience, take your practice to The Flower Fields in Carlsbad during peak bloom season. From March to May, enjoy yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices amidst endless rows of colorful ranunculus flowers. The serene atmosphere, coupled with guided movement and meditation, makes this a unique opportunity to embrace the renewal of spring while grounding yourself in nature.

Thursdays + Sundays – Mission Bay Beach Club, Mission Bay
Enjoy a peaceful donation-based yoga practice by calm waters at the Mission Bay Beach Club. After class, stick around to sample vegan treats and coffee drinks, plus cocktails for the evening flows.
Saturdays – Jimmy's Famous American Tavern, Point Loma
Kick off your Saturday with an accessible 60-minute donation-based Hatha yoga flow on the huge grass lawn of Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern. After class, stick around for a delicious brunch with fellow yogis.
Saturdays – Yoga for a Cause at Kate Sessions Park, PB
Practice with purpose at this donation-based yoga class benefiting local charities. Past charities that have benefitted include local wellness nonprofits, international causes, the L.A. wildfires and many more.
Select Saturdays - Yoga at PQ
Join San Diego County Parks for a free all-levels yoga class on the scenic veranda of an historic ranch house in Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve. The class is offered on select Saturdays so visit the San Diego County Parks calendar for the next session date.
Monthly Saturdays – Free Fit Athletic Yoga at The Rady Shell, Downtown San Diego
Experience yoga on a grand scale with Fit Athletic’s free monthly Bootcamp Yoga class at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. Set against the stunning backdrop of the San Diego skyline and harbor, this energizing outdoor session blends strength, flexibility, and breathwork in a dynamic flow led by instructor Viktoria Talbot. Surrounded by good vibes in San Diego's iconic park, this donation-based mid-morning community flow is a peaceful way to start your Sunday.
Sundays – Ski Beach, Mission Bay
Stretch and strengthen with a revitalizing donation-based yoga session led by Yoga Jawn at Ski Beach, where the tranquil bayfront setting enhances your practice. This class offers a mix of mindful movement and sound healing, leaving you refreshed for the week ahead.
Sundays – The Quartyard, East Village
Join Wolf + Lion for a free community Sunday Reset Flow at The Quartyard, an event venue in the heart of East Village. Donations appreciated but not expected.
Multiple Days – Japanese Meditation Garden, Balboa Park
Step into tranquility at the Japanese Meditation Garden, where a variety of wellness practices—including tai chi, yoga, meditation, breathwork, and sound healing—are held throughout the week. This serene space offers a peaceful retreat from the bustle of city life, inviting participants to slow down, reflect, and restore both mind and body.
