Encinitas has long held a legendary reputation in the wellness movement. The coastal surf town has been known for decades as a yoga and wellness haven, partly thanks to Paramahansa Yogananda establishing the Self-Realization Fellowship Encinitas' temple (overlooking Swami's Beach) in 1938, and where he wrote his famous Autobiography of a Yogi. Further solidifying its reputation, a recent study by Mission Connection officially named Encinitas one of the top 10 most Zen Cities in the U.S., highlighting its deep concentration of holistic practitioners, mindful spaces, and ocean-centric lifestyle.
Yet, despite being considered the epicenter of yoga and coastal wellness, Encinitas hasn’t had an annual community wellness festival—until now.

This Sunday, October 4, 2026, the inaugural Solara Wellness Fest is making its debut at Fox Point Farms, Encinitas' vibrant farm-to-table agrihood community. The full-day gathering will bring together local yoga and movement teachers, wellness practitioners, conscious brands, food, music, and community across the farm’s outdoor spaces.
While Encinitas has hosted wellness events before, including the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce’s Health & Wellness Expo in 2024, Solara is a full-day festival experience with multiple stages, built specifically around the city’s wellness community.
“Why has nobody done this yet?” says organizer Sue White, a 500-hour E-RYT, YACEP Yoga Teacher, former professional dancer and international presenter. “We don't have our own real wellness festival being the epicenter of yoga in America.”
White has spent years working in the wellness and fitness event world, including producing an event for IDEA Health & Wellness Association, as well as owning The Movement Lab in Solana Beach for five years. But the idea for Solara came from a more personal place. Her word for 2026 was “action,” she says, prompting her to finally pursue the wellness festival she had wanted to create for years.
“I’m all about community. I’m about sharing connection. I’m about movement. I’m about health and wellness. I’m about spirituality,” White says. “I’ve always just had this calling to create something that would be pretty unique for Encinitas.”
A wellness festival built around the local scene
Rather than importing a lineup from outside San Diego, White intentionally curated Solara around the people and businesses already shaping Encinitas’ wellness culture. The schedule includes local teachers and practitioners from nearby studios including Equinox, Yoga Box, GOOD Yoga, Asteya, as well as independent instructors and wellness professionals from across North County.
“I really wanted to showcase and put forth towards our community at large,” White says. “It’s really supporting our local studios, our local wellness brands, and our local teachers, because we have a plethora of them just right here in our backyard.”
White says the intention is to give smaller local businesses the same opportunity to connect with the community as larger wellness brands.
“I know from being a studio owner how much that means to, one, have your own niche community, but also to be a part of a greater community,” she says.
For Jordyn DiCintio, Events Manager at Fox Point Farms, the collaboration couldn't have been timed better. Known for its organic regenerative farm, farm-to-table dining, and gathering spaces, Fox Point Farms is currently expanding its footprint into a full-fledged wellness ecosystem.
"Fox Point itself is just about bringing people together... eating food from the earth, being aware of where you're sourcing everything, and cultivating community," DiCintio shares. "This festival being brought here is so meaningful... we're actually in the process of expanding our wellness offerings for the community in the new year.”
