GOODONYA in Encinitas Expands with New Dinner Concept + Maya Moon Cacao Lounge

GOODONYA, the well-loved organic eatery on Encinitas' Coast Highway 101, is undergoing a significant evolution with new concepts that merge clean food, conscious beverages, and creative community spaces.

Founded in 2001, GOODONYA has been a neighborhood café and brunch staple in Encinitas and is well-known for its commitment to organic ingredients and regenerative sourcing. Its new initiatives reflect both a deepening of its wellness roots and a bold step into new territory, bringing together local partnerships, nutrition-forward offerings, and collaborative spaces.

One of the most notable additions is GOOD GOOD BURGERS, a new dinner concept now serving Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. The menu focuses on simplicity and quality: 100% grass-fed wagyu beef sourced from New Zealand, organic fries cooked in tallow, and the iconic GOODONYA salads.

The beverage program is just as thoughtful. Guests can expect a curated selection of natural wines, local craft beers, hard kombucha, and a diverse alcohol-free “social tonic” menu. The experience aims to meet the growing demand for clean comfort food without compromising values.

GOODONYA has also partnered with Maya Moon Collective, a trailblazing cacao café originally founded in Normal Heights, to open the Maya Moon Cacao Lounge inside its Encinitas organic eatery. The new cacao lounge will officially open May 8, 2025, operating Wednesday through Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m.

Founded by Kathryn Rogers, Maya Moon has built a following for its ceremonial cacao drinks, adaptogenic blends, and handcrafted chocolate truffles. The Encinitas expansion brings Maya Moon’s mission of heart-opening community and plant-based wellness to a broader audience.

"GOODONYA has long been a leader in organic, nourishing food and conscious living,” Rogers said. “This partnership allows us to share the magic of cacao with more people in a setting that already feels like home.”

In addition to cacao drinks, the lounge will offer tasting flights and Maya Moon’s signature honey marshmallows. Many of the items are also now available on GOODONYA’s daytime menu.

Furthering its role as a local gathering space, GOODONYA is collaborating with The Group, a North County-based community networking organization, to launch "The Good Group Studios." Located in the back of the eatery, the new space will serve as a coworking studio, podcast recording venue, and event hub for local creatives and entrepreneurs.

GOODONYA will also continue to be the home for The Group's "Feel Good Fridays," a free weekly meetup that invites community members to connect in an informal setting. The space will also be available for rent—ideal for workshops, photo shoots, or launching content projects.

"This is about visibility and empowerment," said June An, founder of The Group. “We wanted to create an affordable, inspiring space where people can tell their stories and grow their ideas.”

In addition to the physical expansions, GOODONYA recently reintroduced its popular electrolyte drink mix, Organic Hydration™, a powdered blend of real fruit, electrolytes, and mineral-rich pink Himalayan salt that you mix with water for a refreshing source of daily hydration.
