What is Equine Facilitated Coaching?

Equine Coaching supports clients by utilizing a horse as a tool to bring awareness to where the person may be stuck or blocked in life. “Horses are sensitive and they are constantly putting their energy out and around them,” says equus coach, Jill Van Meter.

Due to the horse's ability to sense subtle energies and emotions, a client can receive direct feedback on where they can improve their life for the better — even with just one session. Within the Equine Coaching container you observe, be, interact and lead the horse. You do not ride the horse.

Equine Facilitated Coaching Vs Equine Therapy

Equine Facilitated Coaching is a life coaching process that aims to support clients with their self-development and growth. Typically, a session is done through a variety of exercises that involve interacting with a horse. A client who partakes in an Equine Coaching session does not ride the horse.

Equine Assisted Therapy focuses more on mental health issues. During a session a licensed therapist may untangle past traumas that the client has experienced. Some exercises may include sitting on the horse.

The Benefits of Equine Facilitated Coaching

The benefits of Equine Facilitated Coaching are vast. From learning about how to set boundaries to learning how to be the leader of your life, this modality can bring your current energy state to the forefront of your awareness.

“Horses teach us through metaphor,” shares Van Meter. Through the reflections that come from  interacting with the horse, a client may learn how to be in harmony with their thoughts, emotions, behaviors and intentions. “If we are not being authentic with ourselves during the coaching session, the horse will let us know right away,” Van Meter adds.
