Nari Nest Holistic Community for Women Launches in San Diego

Nari Nest, a new community for women, features social events and gatherings every month across San Diego. Read on to learn how you can join this new empowering community of females!

Burnt out and uninspired by corporate America, Ashika Mehta-Ombe felt lost and without a purpose. “I just felt very drained, felt like a cog in a wheel with no reward for our soul,” says Mehta-Ombe. “We are all born with a purpose and to put it out in the world, and [the idea for Nari] kind of started when I had kids. It sparked a journey and asking, ‘What do I want?’”

Her soul searching led her to create Nari Nest, a new community that provides empowering gatherings for the holistic female, aka Nari or “woman” in Sanskrit.

“In India, Nari is often combined with the word Shakti meaning “power.” The motto is frequently used to promote female empowerment,” Mehta-Ombe explains.

Nari Nest events and childcare

Nari Nest features an online community, in-person social events and restorative classes like yoga and meditation, which Mehta-Ombe states is something that many women, especially busy moms like herself, really need.

“Us moms, we are all doing so much and it can be so isolating at times,” Mehta-Ombe shares. “I hear moms say, ‘Oh, I can’t do this or that because of my kids.’ We need to change our mindset and say, ‘I do this for my kids.’”

To make it more accessible for moms, Nari Nest offers on-site childcare for children ages 6 months to 5 years old and/or kid-friendly activities alongside the community events in San Diego.

“Things like meditation, yoga — these things can help us to stay centered. I really believe the more conscious we are ourselves, the more we can create a conscious universe.”
