Namaste On The Run Brings Wellness and Community Together for Make-A-Wish

San Diego residents will be lacing up their running shoes and rolling out their yoga mats for a good cause on Saturday, September 13 at Namaste On The Run, a wellness festival and fundraiser at Otay Ranch Town Center.

The event, organized by Namaste Fitness and powered by Lululemon, combines fitness, mindfulness, and community connection—all while raising money for Make-A-Wish® San Diego.

For event organizer and Namaste Fitness founder Ana Hutz, this event is personal.

"My husband battled Stage 3 colon cancer in 2021, and after going through that journey, I realized how much small acts of kindness can impact not just the patient but everyone supporting them," says Hutz. “My husband fully recovered and is now in good health, so I felt a need to give back as a form of gratitude and ‘paying forward’ for what life had given us.”

A Full Morning of Movement

The day kicks off early at 6:30 a.m. with check-in and a pre-run stretch. At 7:00 a.m., the community fun run begins with a 5K loop around the Otay Ranch Town Center lot. After the run, participants will gather at the main stage for three back-to-back wellness classes:

  • Vinyasa Yoga led by Hutz herself
  • Pilates with instructor Eva Martinez
  • Meditation guided by Vanouhi Kaloyan

In between classes, attendees can browse the wellness fair, featuring local food vendors, gyms, spas, health providers, and retail shops before the festival wraps up at noon.

All proceeds from Namaste On The Run will benefit Make-A-Wish® San Diego, which has been granting wishes to children with critical illnesses for more than 40 years. Across the U.S., a wish is granted every 33 minutes.

"The inspiration behind this event are the kids I get to meet and help grant wishes for through Make-A-Wish,”says Hutz. “I have been helping grant wishes for 16 kids in the last two years, and it has become part of my life as I know it now.”

Not every child supported by Make-A-Wish is battling cancer, Hutz noted, but they all share something in common.

“They’re brave, joyful, loving warrior children who deserve to have a magical experience that will last a lifetime,”states Hutz.
