Inside North Park's New Therapist-Led Yoga + Strength Studio

North Park has no shortage of gyms and yoga studios but none quite like this. Embodied Truth + Power, the neighborhood’s newest community wellness studio, is intentionally designed to bring mind, body, and emotional wellbeing into one deeply supportive home. Part trauma-informed yoga studio, part strength-training gym, this intimate new space is redefining what wellness looks and feels like in San Diego.

Embodied Truth and Power Founder Dr. Justyna Wawrzonek

Founded by therapist Dr. Justyna Wawrzonek, DSW, LCSW, CST, Embodied Truth + Power emerges from over a decade of mental health experience and a core belief that one must sculpt both the body and the mind in order to lead a resilient, authentic life.

Dr. Wawrzonek's professional background permeates the studio’s mission, ensuring that every class is guided by instructors who understand the nervous system and the importance of creating a safe, non-judgmental environment. This focus transforms the space from a place of performance into a place of profound self-exploration and healing.

"My hope is that everyone who comes into the space feels safe to be themselves, and that's where the trauma-informed background really comes in," Dr. Wawrzonek shares. "We want the space to feel warm and inclusive and welcoming so people can come in and relax. And it's through that relaxing and being fully present with themselves that actual healing and transformation takes place."

A Studio Designed for Your Whole Self

Each Embodied Truth + Power class blends physical fitness together emotional wellbeing, offering trauma-informed classes that focus on grounding, centering, and reconnecting with your inner self.

"Calming, soothing, gentle, slowing down is really important. And also, we need to sometimes be powerful, and kind of edgy, and strong, and raw,” says Dr. Wawrzonek. “So that's why I couldn't separate the gym and the yoga…humans are so complex and we need all of it."

Current class offerings include:

  • Trauma-informed yoga that emphasizes grounding, safety, and reconnecting with the body
  • Power vinyasa flows built on presence rather than perfection
  • Strength training + boxing designed to help students feel powerful, resilient, and emotionally supported (starting in January)
  • Restorative yoga + sound healing for nervous system regulation and deep rest
  • Mindfulness + breathwork workshops that blend clinical expertise with somatic practices

Community Over Competition

Forget the large, anonymous gym floor. Embodied Truth + Power caps classes at a maximum of 8-10 people, fostering an intimate, small-class feel. This ensures that every member receives personalized attention from instructors and, perhaps more importantly, builds genuine connections with their peers.

"We're not supposed to be doing these things in isolation—these things are hard. [Being] human is hard, and we need people to support us and cheer us on," Dr. Wawrzonek explains. "It's just so nice when you can do these hard things together with others."

Class participants will also find motivation and inspiration in the studio’s playful, colorful design aesthetic. Inside the yoga studio space, you’ll find a wall of inspiring quotes, colorful yoga blocks + props, along with the classic “feelings board” dotted with magnets of emoji faces naming dozens of emotional states, acting as playful, profound reminders throughout class.

"What I tell clients every single day [in my psychotherapy practice] is that feelings are our GPS system,” Dr. Wawrzonek explains. They communicate to us what we need and what's happening inside of us.”
