The Taoist Art of the Lee family style of Tai Chi Ch’uan, commonly known as the Yin and Yang Style, considering that everything within it is in complete harmony and balance with each other. The Taoist Cultural Arts Association has preserved and promoted the foundations of this art handed down by the Lee Family and as taught by the GrandMaster Chee Soo.
The San Diego Tai Chi Club is a branch of the TCAA hosted by the World Beat Center. San Diego Tai Chi Club welcomes all ages and all beginners to participate in the enormous benefits gained through practice of this family style. Therefore, bring your family and friends to share in this wonderful art of good health and enjoyment of community.
A class session consists of gentle limbering exercises that aid in coordination, balance, and the opening of various channels within the body to allow your Chi to flow freely. In addition, we incorporate respiration therapy such as our style’s form of Qigong, K’ai Men, otherwise known as Taoist Yoga and various specialized breathing exercises referred to as ‘Dao Yin’.
Moreover, we include partner exercises that reinforce the underlying principles of being tenderly gentle, soft, and giving way to all force, provided that our style requires absolutely no physical strength. Furthermore, Taoist physical exercises include parts of the art of Tai Chi Ch’uan: Partner Exercises, The form of Tai Chi Ch’uan and Tai Chi Dance.
The physical movements of Tai Chi Ch’uan are gentle, natural and an exceptionally light therapeutic exercise. The physical movements encourage inner awareness, concentration, development of limb strength, encourage loss of surplus weight, increase the efficiency of the organs, improvement of skin elasticity, relaxation and soothing of the central nervous system.
